The National Memorial symbolizes the nation's respect for the martyrs of the War of Liberation. It is built with concrete, but made of blood. It stands 150 feet tall, but every martyr it symbolizes stands much taller. There is actually Seven towers in it. The foundation of the monument was laid on the first anniversary of the Victory Day. The plan was taken to execute in several phases. The memorial reminds its visitors the great sacrifice of the freedom loving people of Bangladesh. It also warns all oppressors that the weapons of freedom need not be very big, and that oppression will always be defeated. We are inspired by their great sacrifice and we take an oath to materialize their dreams. We bow down our heads in front of the graves to show our respect.
