Literary Summary of Victorian Age

After the death of Wordsworth, it seemed that the darkness of the space has come down on the earth as the most twinkling star of romantic poets had fallen down from the galaxy of literature. With the death of Wordsworth, the great romantic age ends. Keats, P. B. Shelley, Coleridge have already left the earth. It seemed that no English poet remained in that time and a great emptiness was created. Although Tennyson was writing much before the death of Wordsworth, he remained unknown till his collection of poems published in 1832. Similarly, Elizabeth Barrett had been writing since 1820. But, she was also remain unpopular till twenty years later did her poems become popular. In the case of Browning, people began to appreciate his writing almost 13 years later of the publication of his Pauline in 1833. In the mean time, a group of prose writers – Charles dickens, Thackeray, Carlyle, and Ruskin had begun to show their literary talent. These poets and writers take this age to a unique height just below the Elizabethan Age and the Romantic Age.

The umpire decides the number of the players. The players stand face to face on a line. Each team stands in one part of the ground. One player of team is allowed to enter the ground of the opponent party. He utters all the time 'Ha-du-du' or 'du-du-du' holding his breath. He tries his best to touch one or more players of the opponent party. If he is sueeesslul in his attempt and comes back to his own area. the touched player or players are called dead. And if the player is caught within the area of the opponent party is called dead. The dead player or players can not play. They wait outside the ground until a player of their team can touch a player or players of the opponent party. Then the dead player comes back to life and regains his right to play. Thus the parties send forth players one by one to the area of the opponent party. The game comes to an end when all the players of a party are disqualified or dead and the other party becomes the wmner.
